Hey guys!
It's been a ruff semester and a lot of hard work went into maintaining Saga's student association status so Saga is still alive just sleeping right now. Hopefully to awake next semester rejuvenated and happy!
We are currently seeking members who would like to become an officer of Saga and help keep this great club striving for more.
Anyone can join and anyone who wants to participate can be an officer. This is a great opportunity and it looks great on a resume.

Hello Community!

The Meet and Greet went well, Lucas and his brother Dustin turned out some great work for themselves.
Thanks to all who came out!

Our next meeting will be on Sept. 22nd at 630 in the Student Union in room 207.

It will be "What you need to know" It will be between students and some alumni from the unlv art dept.
we will discuss little secrets that you learn with time that might have been useful information before you took a certain
class, or had a certain professor. We will talk about websites and important RSS feeds every graphic designer should have.

Come eat and drink and learn some new things about the unlv art dept.

Saga is having a Meet and Greet this Wednesday September 8th at the Grant Hall Gallery showroom!

It starts at 730 pm, there will be free food and drinks, the H20 Overflow show in the gallery, and a live
Performance by Lucas Ybarra creating a mixed media work of art!

I hope everyone who is interested in the future of Saga can attend. We can't have Saga if there are no
followers and people interested in learning new trends in the Graphic Design world.

We look forward to meeting new students and hearing what you would like from us!

Hey guys, Gerrica here, I just wanted to thank everyone who participated this semester in our Saga meetings. To all the Unlv Faculty members who helped us by Speaking, you really encouraged our learning and pushed us to get ready for when we graduate. And all the students who showed their support and attended the meetings, we really appreciate it! Congrats to everyone who is graduating including Kirsten Katz, we'll miss you. Good Luck this summer and I hope everyone can make new and exciting Graphic Art for us to see in the fall.

Print Demo and More!

Hi Everyone!

Just wanted to say hi and get more word out about two things going on tomorrow. (Tuesday)

First off tomorrow afternoon SAGA is having a short meet and greet to say hi to any new members not to mention those already familiar with SAGA. We plan to talk about what we have planned for this semester and get any feed back we can.

This will be at 5:30 located in the Student Union on the third floor in the Source room. This really is just meant to be a chance for everyone to meet and say hi and get filled in.

Second! We have a great print demo going on in the GRA lab at 8:30 to 10:00pm. This will include information that will help you print in our labs this semester in addition to having a special guest! There will be a rep present from Moab Paper to bring samples and talk about their products. ( http://moabpaper.com/ )

There will also be limited space on Wednesday night at 6:30 to 8:30 if you happen to miss out on Tuesday. Don't miss out! Make your print life easier on yourself and be sure to check this out.

It's not every day that students get a chance to meet with working professionals of this caliber not to mention have the chance to show off our chops.

Another chapter in the SAGA begins.

After a nice summer break and a changing of the guard SAGA is now back in full swing. We had our first meeting last week on Tuesday night which gave everyone a chance to touch base and even meet with a few new faces.

The topics that were covered ranged from highlighting a few things we have done in the past semesters to new opportunities coming in the very near future. We will be having several guest speakers this year in addition to several tutorials that we think everyone will like. I'd like to also mention that some of the topics that will be covered are branching out into fields that all designers will eventually interact with. With that in mind we'll have a focus on photography, marketing, web design, 3d effects and a focus on designing for textiles.

We have lots to show off this year so even if you couldn't make last meeting be sure to stop by for another meeting. We'll be posting a more comprehensive schedule very soon so please stay tuned.

With all of that said our second meeting will be this evening at 7pm in the student union RM 208C. Feel free to stop by and see what is going on. We all look forward to meeting you.

Hi everyone,
Last week we hosted Victor Rodriguez, owner and head creative at Eurie Creative. His talk was about his involvement in helping non profit organizations, expressing how it is not only a way for the design community to give back but also a way to connect and collaborate with creatives. Eurie Slide ShowHe also offered his studios as a place SAGA can use to host events and meet, it is a awesome connect we have made and I see the beginning of a great relationship between Eurie and SAGA. On that note Antonio Montano is going to be leading a team of people that will help Victor on a future non profit project. If you are interested please try and attend Eurie Creatives next event:

This upcoming wednesdays meeting on the 11th is going to be a tour, we will be going to:

The tour starts at 7:00pm and I would like everyone to try and make it to the parking lot by 6:45 so we can get started right away. The Semester is Officially in Motion

The first meeting is officially in the past, we had a great turnout and we have 19 members as of tonight and I know of a few more than just could not make it. We basically discussed our plans for the semester: Tutorials, Guest Speakers, Tours and more. We will be posting an complete events calendar soon. Stay tuned.

Spring 2009 SAGA Kickoff!

Hi everyone,
The Spring semester is scheduled, we have room confirmations and meetings set for every Wednesday at 7 pm. A full schedule with events will be posted soon.

The first meeting is:
January 21st (next wednesday)
7:00 PM - 9:00 PM| MSU Meeting Room 211

Please remember to bring your dues; which is still $20 for the semester, it makes things a lot easier to plan when we have a solid number.

I would also like to thank Eurie creative and their design team for putting on "The Next Big Thing" event on January 8th. SAGA represents the month of December in their yearly calendar of graphic, marketing and communication companies. It's a great honor and the calendar's exposure is great for our cause. I will be receiving 20 calendars and will distribute them to members after they are delivered.

Hope everyone had a great break and hope to see you all at the first meeting!

Lead MADMAN visits SAGA

Hello everyone,
This past monday Mike Hopper gave an inspiring talk about the structure of his design firm which specializes in 3d marketing including commercials on TV and architectural projects. He showed some great work and gave great insight into how to be successful in the industry by diversifying your talents and business. His other main suggestion was to start networking by getting involved in the AIGA and the Adobe user group, have a business card and website up and get out into the industry and mix it up!

On another note we have just recently reached 10 AIGA memberships in SAGA!!!!!!!!!!!! This means we are not eligible to become an AIGA student chapter, WOOOOT !!!!!!!!!!!!
More info to come in the near future!

SAGA Needs a T-Shirt

The next project for SAGA is producing a T shirt for our members. For the members by the members!
To get the best design for the T shirt, we have decided to let YOU the members design it.
Requirements:
--1 Color Ink
--1 Color Shirt
--1 Side
--Artwork must fit within a 18"x12" Box on either the front or the back of the T shirt.
--Artwork must be in Vector format for printing.

Think of this as a practice in economical design!

The deadline for designs is Monday the 24th of November.

At the SAGA meeting on November 24th we will put all the entries up for vote and will decide on the winning design by voting.
If you are unable to attend and would still like to submit a design please contact me and I will arrange to pick it up before the 24th.

If there are any questions about designing Tshirts you can contact me but I suggest doing research on you own: Google is good and so is calling a Tshirt printer (pick their brains! You are future clients and if they are a good company they will be more than happy to assist you!)
